WHY DO WORK FOR OXBRIDGE LAW?

Earnings. The principal advantage of working for Oxbridge Law™ is financial. Many of our briefs command fees of hundreds of pounds, often for no more than one or two days work. A few large orders and one's student loan debt looks much smaller! Whilst such work is not likely to be available to you every day, our standard rates will still earn you much more than any other job of its kind.

Freedom. The second great advantage of joining Oxbridge Law is that for most types of work you can work whenever, wherever and upon whatever work you like. You can work from Antarctica or Tahiti, from university or home, and all months of the year. You only need access to good sources for research, and the internet for communication with us.

Obligations. You have no obligations whatsoever to accept briefs, and may work as seldom or as often as you like. You could undertake twenty assignments a month or none - the choice is entirely yours! As such, you may adjust the number of briefs you undertake according to your academic commitments. You may work only in the vacations if you wish.

Variety. Having such a broad spectrum of services, and sub-services, Oxbridge Law offers a great deal of variation and choice, from tutoring LNAT candidates to editing OLPAS applications! This means that you can undertake work according to how much spare time you have; you could bid for a short brief that could take you less than an hour to complete or a project that could take several days or even weeks.

CVs. Another advantage of working for Oxbridge Law is that Experts can proudly add the work to their CVs. For example, what could look better on the CV than: "During Summer 2008 I tutored LNAT students from disadvantaged areas to improve their chances of entry into Oxford and Cambridge universities. As a result of the excellent feedback I received, I was made 'Tutor of the Month' at my agency and was awarded a substantial bonus, which I put towards..."

1. What qualifications do I need to work for Oxbridge Law?
The main requirement to work for Oxbridge Law is that you are now or once were a member of Oxford University or Cambridge University studying Law. However, Oxbridge Law also contracts professionals to offer training contract, pupillage and tutoring services. So, if you are at a 'Band 1' or 'Band 2' firm or chambers in a particular area of law, you are welcome to join the company.

Students who have been accepted by Oxford or Cambridge but who have not yet begun their courses, including those with unconditional offers, must wait until course commencement before applying. However those who have been accepted by top firms or chambers need not wait - we value the fact that you have been through the tough recruitment processes at these elite institutions.

2. I have not attended Oxford or Cambridge. Am I eligible to work for Oxbridge Law?
Yes. You may be eligible to apply to one of our specialist services. But you must have a training contract or pupillage offer at least. Also, if you are non-Oxbridge, we expect you to be going to a top firm or chambers.

3. How do you verify that I am/was a member of Oxford/Cambridge/a firm/a chambers?
If you apply through the website using an Oxford or Cambridge University email address, or one from your firm or chambers, we will send the joining documents to this address and confirm your identity when we receive a first email from this account.

If you supply another email account when applying through the website, or if you have emailed us directly to apply, then we will ask you to either send us a blank email from a relevant account or, if you do not have or wish to use one, to send us a scan/copy of your graduation certificate, other official university correspondence or a training contract or pupillage offer letter.

We never contact tutors, employers or Oxford/Cambridge University to verify identities.

4. Which services could I work for?
Oxbridge Law has five basic divisions: Oxbridge Law Tutors™, Oxbridge LNAT™, Oxbridge Training Contracts™, Oxbridge Pupillages™ and Oxbridge Vac Schemes™.

When you become a member of Oxbridge Law, you will automatically begin to receive emails, on a daily basis, from all of the above divisions. However for specific briefs we may contact particular individuals who have a track record of excellence.

Having such a broad spectrum of services and sub-services, Oxbridge Law offers a great deal of variation and choice. Therefore, our Experts will always have an exciting project to undertake, resulting in a unique opportunity each time!

5. Can I choose which services I would like to work for?
Yes. You can select which services you are interested in writing on when applying. We will send you a detailed questionnaire to find out which services you are interested in. Please note that you may change this selection at any time by contacting us.

6. How does it work?
Once your application has been processed, you will begin to receive briefs by email. These emails will state your fee for the work and give the client's exact specifications (including whether particular classes of individuals are eligible to complete the work, for example a training contract consultation cannot be completed by a present Oxbridge law student unless they have a training contract offer); if you would like to bid for the work, then you simply send us an email saying so and giving your telephone number.

Several writers usually bid for each brief, and we confirm the work with one. Your bid stays 'live' for three days and, if you have not been confirmed for the brief after 72 hours, you may assume that you have not been chosen this time.

If successfully confirmed for a brief, you will (normally) have a deadline by which you must submit the work; beyond this date the client may request alterations (if the work is written) for up to ten days.

You are encouraged to bid as widely across services as you feel confident doing, thus increasing your chances of being delegated work. Willingness to look up new areas will be advantageous to you - for example whilst your expertise may be in contract law, you may benefit from offering tutorials in other areas of law, so long as you are comfortable.

You can bid for as many briefs as you like at any one time, and you do not need to fear being overloaded since our Delegations Team will ensure that you are not given too much.

7. How much can I earn?
One of the principal advantages of working for Oxbridge Law is financial. There are excellent rates, interesting work and high volume at flexible times. Our standard Expert rates will still earn you much more than any other job that you are likely to have at university. For example:

Tutors earn between £20 to £80 per hour, depending on the level of tuition provided and the number of tutees being assisted. Tuition is offered both at our London offices and at customers' homes, with travel expenses negotiable. Prizes and scholarships (up to £500 and more in exceptional cases) are also awarded for tutors with the best feedback. Consistent performers will be offered even greater flexibility and lucrative group tuition. Needless to say, tutoring law students is also a rewarding experience when one sees the improvement in students' performances over time.

LNAT - With excellent rates and convenient placements (for example in schools and homes), Oxbridge LNAT is ideal for Oxbridge law students who have sat the LNAT. LNAT tutors from other universities are also in demand from applicants to those institutions. Work is offered at our London offices or can earn tutors a minimum rate of £22 plus travel expenses if completed locally. LNAT tutors receive comprehensive training and earn an impressive wage increasing with experience and positive feedback. Qualified lawyers, teachers and legal academics - our 'Specialists' - can earn from £50 per hour and group tuition can be extremely lucrative and rewarding in terms of seeing aspiring students gaining confidence in their abilities.

Pupillages - Earn up to £100 for two hours work editing OLPAS forms, writing model answers, assessing the suitability of candidates for chambers and writing covering letters for mini-pupillages. In-person consultations can earn experts up £50 per hour or more. Consistent experts are offered increasingly rewarding work from Oxbridge Law over time. Working on our pupillage services will be second nature to experts since they will have completed the process successfully themselves.

Vac Schemes - If you are completing, have completed or have a training contract or pupillage lined up, you could receive up to £300 for completing a model application essay for Oxbridge Law. For those with a busy schedule, writers can command up to £60 for a constructing a model vac scheme covering letter and a fee of £15 by simply revamping a client's existing CV (30min-1hrs work). Work can be completed at your convenience and is available on a regular, or an ad-hoc, basis.

Training Contracts - For only one hour's work, experts providing training contract interview preparation can command a fee of up to £45. The employment opportunities at Oxbridge Training Contracts are such that Tutors can earn money simply by utilising their existing knowledge of the legal profession: for instance, by creating a law firm fact sheet (giving an overview of a particular firm and their practice), you can earn £30; for completing a more comprehensive suitability report (whereby a client's experience is matched to specific law firm or field of law), a brief fee of up to £300+ can be earned. Customised interview answers and model application answers also provide lucrative opportunities.

Please note that these rates are approximate and the fee may change depending on the exact specifications of a particular brief.
